During the March 2 Macungie Borough Council meeting, Borough Engineer Stan Wojciechowski spoke about Phase 4 of the Streetscape Improvement Plan. Phase 4 will continue with the placement of streetlights and planting of street trees from the Macungie Pub and continue to Mountain Creek. This phase is being set up for bidding.

Issues with prior work were mentioned. Sloppy brick work is among the issues. There is a list of problems the last contractor must remedy before complete payment is made.

A Community Development Block Grant for Americans with Disabilities Act compliant ramps for South Church Street was obtained. There was concern about drainage at certain intersections such as Cedar and Church streets. The drainage issue will be dealt with when the street is reconstructed but will be kept in mind when adding these ramps.

Emmaus Main Street Manager and Assistant Vice President of Affiliated Chambers for the East Penn, Southern Lehigh and Western Lehigh Chambers Ashley Lorah attended the meeting to tell council members about what the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce can offer. It is a regional organization with activities being offered to neighboring municipalities. This week is East Penn Restaurant week. Other events include Rocktoberfest in October which offers music, food and vendors. In the near future, there will be a small business week.

A resident complained about Main Street parking lot access due to the light at Church Street. Motorists cannot make a left turn at the light traveling south on Route 100 so they use her parking lot to turn around. She has posted a sign but people still use her lot for a turnaround. She is suggesting a meeting of businesses involved.

The painting event, sponsored by the beautification committee, was mentioned as a fun event and there was great feedback. Angela Faidley held the event at her Out of Our Minds Art Studio and supplied materials and refreshments.

The Macungie Farmers Market will reopen but in a new spot which is not finalized yet. A new spot is necessary due to events during the summer held in the park. The market could not set up four times last summer due to these events.

Yard waste passes are being shared from neighboring communities. Emmaus charges $20 for their pass and Lower Macungie charges $25.

The pulldown steps are being replaced at the Macungie Institute. The work is being done by Carl Sell who volunteered to make the repairs.
