Arthur M. Madarassy

Arthur Marean Madarassy, 93, of Emmaus, formerly of Wilmington, Del., died peacefully Dec. 9, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Faith Vandever Gottschall Madarassy who died in 2016. Born in Binghamton, N.Y., and raised in Brooklyn, he was an accomplished musician, keen scientist, experienced builder, avid ballroom dancer and chef.

He played trombone in the U.S. Navy band while proudly serving on the USS Enterprise (CV-6) in the South Pacific during World War II. He went on to graduate from The Julliard School of Music and continued his service in the Navy during the Korean War. He loved music; everything from Beethoven to Stan Kenton.

He worked as a research technician at the DuPont Experimental Station in Wilmington, Del., for 34 years. He also worked as a contractor.

He is survived by daughters: Margaret and her husband Patrick Burke, of Emmaus; Catherine and her husband Richard Kendall, of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; Ruth and her husband Blaise James, of New York, N.Y.; John Gottschall and his wife Marylin, of Port Richey, Fla.; grandchildren: Glenn Herrman and his wife Sierra, Faye Kendall and her husband Marcos Garcia, Tessa Wigand and her husband Per; Ariel Burke and her fiance Thomas Schaffer; great-grandchildren: Saxon and Nollie Herrman, Roland Garcia, Soren Wigand.
