Margaret A. Spinato

Margaret A. “Peggy” (O’Connell) Spinato, 82, of Wescosville, died Nov. 27, 2018, in St. Luke’s, Sacred Heart Campus, Allentown. She was the wife of the late Anthony J. Spinato. They were married for 61 years. Born in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late James and Kathryn (McMenamin) O’Connell.

She was a 1954 graduate of Pottsville High School and a 1974 graduate of Kutztown University, where she graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in secondary education and later a master’s degree in English literature. She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi and Mensa International. She was a retired English teacher.

She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Allentown, where she had been a member of the choir. In the past, she was a member of the Berks Grand Opera and enjoyed singing in many of their productions.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda Marie, who resided with her; grandson, Timothy Krug, of Wescosville; sister, Mary Ellen O’Connell, of Glenolden; cousins, Rexanne Wiencek, of Media; James McMenamin, of Augusta, Ga.; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Anthony J. Jr.
