Groff caps four-year soccer career at Ursinus

Several Salisbury High School graduates have had exceptional athletic seasons at the college level. Here is a look at some of them.

West Chester sophomore Leandra Roelker recently capped the fall portion of her second tennis season as a member of the Golden Rams. She went 5-2 in singles play (1-1 in the PSAC) and picked up three more wins on the doubles circuit. The team will resume play on March 9 at Webber University.

Ursinus forward Mackenzie Groff capped a successful 2018 campaign and career this past season. The former Falcon posted a team-high six goals and 13 points for the Bears, who went 8-7-2 in the fall. Groff finished her career with 16 goals, ranked seventh on the school’s all-time list.

Kelly Gardus, who played with Groff at Salisbury for one season, had an impressive freshman campaign at Ursinus. She finished second on the team with five goals, starting in two of the 14 games she played in. The Ursinus forward also added an assist on the season, and two of her goals were game-winners.

DeSales senior Kyle Gonoude was a member of the men’s cross country team that placed fifth at the MAC Championships. He placed 48th at the event in a time of 28:45.5. He’ll finish his college career in spring as a member of the Bulldogs’ track and field team.

Saint John’s redshirt sophomore Jordan Kamp started five games in goal for the Red Storm women’s soccer team this fall. In those five games, she allowed seven goals and recorded 13 saves. In 14 games as a redshirt freshman, Kamp went 7-6-1 with 55 saves and a 0.95 goals against average.

Kody Long, a senior on Moravian’s golf team, capped a successful college career this past fall. His lowest round of 80 came in the Montgomery Cup on September 22-23. He was named to the Empire 8 All-Conference Second Team as a sophomore.
