Northampton Community College

College hosts foreign visitors

A delegation of five professional Ukrainian educators, directors, and specialists and bicultural facilitators, and an interpreter representing the Open World Leadership Center visited Bethlehem from Oct. 12 through 20. The group was hosted by Northampton Community College and the Center for Global Education and International Services and stayed with local residents.

The exchange program promotes mutually beneficial options for depolarized engagement between future national leaders. Locally, they are also collaborating on best practices for Community College/vocational education.

Halloween photo booth

There will be a Halloween photo booth from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 31 in the food court at the main campus. There will be Halloween props available. The event is sponsored by Sodexo.

Finger-picking guitar class

The Luthier program at Northampton Community College’s Fab Lab helps students learn to play the instruments that they have built or are planning to build.

The class will cover the basics of finger style guitar, playing melody with chords, blues techniques, folk, Travis, classical styles and basic patterns for accompanying. There is a fee.

Classes will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays from Nov. 1 through 29 at the Fowler Family Southside Center, 511 E. Third St. For information and to register, visit www.northampton.edu/fablab or call 610-332-8665.

Laser Cutting class begins Nov. 10

There will be a one day “Laser Cut a Wooden Wireless Charger” class from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 10 at the Fab Lab, Fowler Family Southside Center, 511 E. Third St.

Participants will learn the basics of Corel Draw and how to operate a Trotec laser cutter to make a wood enclosure of their own design with a Yootech wireless phone charger inside.

Automotive Tech programs offered

There will be a free information session about NCC’s automotive technology programs from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30 at the college’s Enrollment Center, Bethlehem Campus, 3835 Green Pond Road, Bethlehem Township.

NCC has partnered with several manufacturers to offer courses based on best practices for repair and maintenance with a focus on technology. After completing the program, majors may pursue a career or transfer to a related four-year college program.

The information session includes the automotive technology program and automotive technology Chrysler or GM (ASEP) programs, a facilities tour and financial aid, payment options and career exploration.
