A big thank you to all the volunteer firefighters from the Catasauqua and North Catasauqua fire departments who took time from their schedules Oct. 12 to spend time with students at Sheckler Elementary School. Firefighters provided insight on Fire Prevention Day about what it’s like to be a firefighter.

The Scholastic book fair will be going on from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 18 in Sheckler Elementary’s cafeteria for families to come shop and make purchases together.

Reminder for children participating in the pumpkin contest: All entries must be submitted between Oct. 22 and Oct. 24. Judging will take place Oct. 25.

Remember to include your child’s name and homeroom number on an index card with your entry.

Students will be marching in their annual Halloween parade Oct. 26 as part of Sheckler’s October festivities. The parade will start 1:30 p.m.

The parade will begin in the bus parking lot and proceed down Sheckler’s driveway, traveling north on 14th Street to Bridge Court, then circling Bridge Court, turning left onto Bridge Street and then heading south on 14th Street. Students will then make their way back to the school.

In choosing your child’s costume, take into consideration students will not be permitted to dress in costumes showing injury, blood or pain. They are not permitted to carry any sort of weapons, which also includes fake weapons.
