Carl E. Seiple, 61, of Breinigsville, formerly of Swoyersville and Reading, died Sept. 16, 2018, in the University of Pennsylvania Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in York, he was preceded in death by his parents, William and Elizabeth (Bruggeman) Seiple.
He recently retired from Kutztown University where he taught in the English Department.
Colleagues and students appreciated and respected him for his love of literature and his dedication to students and the department.
He was treasurer of the English Association of Pennsylvania State Universities for several years and contributed much to the life of this organization.
He influenced and advised many young people and always loved the arts.
He was the advisor of Actors Creating Theater Student Group at KU and will also be remembered for many years of community theater acting, directing, set design and building, especially his years with The Domino Players of Albright College, Reading.
He recently published a book of his poetry titled “Still.”
His survivors include his wife, whom he adored, Joanne Schall; his beloved daughters, Hannah and Allison; brothers Dr. William Seiple (Barbara) of New York, N.Y., and John Seiple (Patricia) of Georgetown, S.C.; a niece, several nephews; and many colleagues and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross or American Cancer Society.
