LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Across the pond

Craig Lemmerman, of Northampton, donned his best medieval attire on the morning of July 28, mounted his horse and made his way to St. John the Baptist Church in Blisworth, England.

Lemmerman served as best man in the wedding of Lisa and Mark Jordan-Green, of Northampton, England.

The couple wanted a medieval-themed wedding and asked that their guests all dress appropriately for the occasion. Lemmerman chose his outfit because it looked like chain mail.

As in the olden days, all guests were asked to leave any weapons at the entry of the centuries-old church before the service.

Lemmerman and the groom rode to the church on horses, which the bride and groom then used to get to the reception. Residents of the little village lined the streets to watch the wedding party and the local newspaper, The Northampton Chronicle, came out to cover the event.

The reception featured a pig roast, and all guests received a goblet from which to drink their ale.

Lemmerman used to work in the automobile business and a friend of his used to come to the United States to buy American car parts and ship them back to England. On one of these trips, his friend brought Mark Green - and the rest, as they say, is history. Lemmerman and Green maintained their friendship despite the distance.

There were six people from the United States invited to the wedding. Lemmerman and his wife, Melissa, were joined by Bill Schlicher, Tina Kohler and Donna and Dave McKeever.

Following the wedding, the Americans stayed and toured England with the newlyweds. Their adventures included zip-lining in Wales, a train ride up Snowden Mountain, a visit to Windsor Castle, haunted pub visits and more.

Later this year, the couple will take a cruise for their honeymoon.
