Soccer teams pick up wins

thought it would,” said Marley. “We really didn’t have the whole team together except for our scrimmages and this game. We ended up playing more like individuals and we didn’t have many opportunities to score.”

Marley was glad to play the opening game, and she believes her team can move ahead. They traveled to Pen Argyl Wednesday and Northwestern Thursday.

“It was good to get the jitters out,” she said. “We had girls playing in all different positions, and it was hard for them to get a feel for each other.

“Now we can prepare better and know the things we need to work on. We are also anxious to begin play in the league.”

Marley did cite the play of seniors Alexis Hertzog and Tyzahnue Klotz along with sophomore Lexi Rushatz.

“Those girls played well, and we did have some good things happen,” said Marley. “It just didn’t end up in our favor.”

With a solid group back in the fold, Catty’s boys’ soccer team opened its season with a convincing 6-1 win over Northern Lehigh Aug. 31.

Damian DiPaolo tallied four goals for the Roughies and Westley Brown and Jacob Nye each netted one.

However, the Roughies were blanked the following day at Lehighton, 2-0. They hosted Pen Argyl Tuesday and Wilson Thursday.
