Health care programs are set

LCCC

Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) now offers short-term programs to assist students in learning the wide range of career skills required in the health care field. Classes are held at LCCC campuses in Allentown and Tamaqua.

A new community health worker course will be held 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 11-Dec. 6, at LCCC’s Tamaqua campus, 234 High St. The course will help prepare students to become a liaison between health care agencies and communities. Learn to provide guidance, social assistance, health education, advocacy and referral and follow up services, as well as promote health within the community. Course fee is $1,300.

An EKG technician and CPR training class will be held 6-9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, Sept. 17-Nov. 7, at the Donley Center, 718 Hamilton St., Allentown. Fee is $945. Call 610-799-1942 for more information.

The health care administrative assistant program course will be held 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, Oct. 10-Feb. 14, 2019, at the Allentown campus. There will be no class Nov. 21-23. The course prepares students to work in nonpatient contact health care positions. Fee is $859. For more information, call 610-769-1942.
