LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

EASTERN SALISBURY COLUMN

Well here is the time of year either parent’s love or loathe. It’s back to school time.

I can honestly say I’m totally torn this year. My kids definitely are ready to go back to school for the structure, but I’m not ready to go back to work just yet. Ready or not….it’s here.

A few things for the back to school events in Salisbury this year: please make sure you have access to your student’s portal information. All bus cards and teacher assignments will be listed there. Bus cards will not be mailed this year. This is a change from last year.

Also, for those in the middle and high schools, laptops will be distributed during the first week of school. Please ensure all required paperwork is completed and sent in to school with your students. Laptop agreement forms and insurance information can be found online at www.tl2020.org under device rollout.

Students in grades kindergarten, six and nine will report to school Aug. 27 for an orientation day. The first day of school for all Salisbury Township students will be Aug. 28. Please note that all Salisbury Township schools will be closed Aug. 31 and Sept. 3 in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

The Salisbury Falcon Field Hockey team will hold an ice cream night fundraiser at the Udder Bar, 1852 W. Allen St., Allentown, 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 23. Mention this fundraiser and support the team.

There will be a boys and girls soccer clinic held at Salisbury High School Aug. 25 at the stadium on the turf field. The event will run 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is open to kids five to 12 years old. There is a cost at the gate. This event is run by the SHS players and coaches and all proceeds will benefit the Salisbury Soccer Fund.

The Salisbury cross country team has its 2018 online clothing sale happening now through Aug. 27. Orders are expected to be delivered by Sept. 28. You can browse and shop all available items online at svsports.tuosystems.com/stores/falconxc.

The Franko Farm Yard Waste drop-off site will be open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 25 and 28.
