Coplay Cemetery Association installs 48-urn columbarium

Acknowledging the fact that now more than 50 percent of people choose cremation over traditional burial, the Coplay Cemetery Association (CCA) recently purchased and installed a 48-urn columbarium.

Several months ago, the CCA officers entertained a proposal to purchase the columbarium. Recognizing the shift in attitude about cremation, the association unanimously supported the purchase.

There now is an alternative to traditional burial in Coplay.

For information about interring a family member in the Coplay Cemetery columbarium, consult your funeral director for details.

The CCA plans to provide information about the columbarium at this year’s Coplay Community Days, set for this weekend.

Coplay Cemetery was founded June 7, 1875. Articles of Incorporation were drawn up by the initial CCA.

Volunteers from Coplay and surrounding communities serve on the CCA. There are no paid officers. A portion of the money from grave site sales helps pay for perpetual care.
