Register your 4- or 5-year-old for one of Suburban North Family YMCA’s early childhood programs. The preschool program is geared for children ages 3 and 4. It is held 9-11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and emphasizes social interaction, cooperation and cognitive development.

The pre-K program is held 9 a.m.-noon Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and is for children ages 4 and 5.

Call the YMCA at 610-264-5221 for questions or to register your child. The programs begin the week of Sept. 4. Financial assistance is offered to qualified applicants.

From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 17, Big Valley Blue Grass will perform at Catasauqua Park Ampitheater, 501 American St.

A memorial butterfly release, co-sponsored by Brubaker Funeral Home and Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, will be held 2 p.m. Aug. 26 with registration, crafts, music and baked goods beginning 1:45 p.m.

This event will be held at Catasauqua Park & Playground and is meant to honor loved ones who have died. There are only 200 butterflies available, so the event is a first-come, first-served opportunity.
