Barnes and Noble in the Promenade Shops again will hold a Children’s Thursday Storytime 10 a.m. Aug. 9. This is a fun 30-minutes for children filled with storytime and coloring activities. All children are welcome and no pre-registration is needed.

The Salisbury High School Soccer team will hold a car wash at Big Woody’s on Fourth Street noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 18. There is a cost per car and advance tickets are available from any team member.

Just a reminder as school sports and activities start, any middle or high school student playing a sport needs a current ImPACT test. The students will now need to get them completed on their own and many local area walk-in clinics can do them for a small fee.

Middle school students need a new baseline every year and high school students need an updated baseline every two years. Don’t miss practice due to an outdated test.

Harry S Truman Elementary School will hold a new student welcome and tour opportunity 9:30 to 11 a.m. Aug. 16. This event is for all new families coming into the HST family for the upcoming school year to meet some of the staff, hear important HST information and take a tour of the school. Doors will open 9:10 a.m. with a presentation beginning 9:30 a.m.

There will be a girls and boys soccer clinic held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 25 at the high school turf field. This is open to kids from five years old to age 12. There is a cost per child for early registration or a higher amount at the gate. This event will be run by the Salisbury High School soccer coaches and students.

Looking forward….it’s coming! The first day of school for the Salisbury Township School District is Aug. 27 for those students entering kindergarten, sixth grade and ninth grade for an orientation day. All students in the district report for their first day Aug. 28. School is then closed for the Labor Day holiday Aug. 31 and Sept. 3 and will re-open Sept. 4.

The Franko Farm Park yard waste site will be open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 11 and 14 for recycling needs.
