Looking ahead to the new school term, the Parkland School Board has approved salaries for central administrators and the Act 93 group is comprised of 60 non-union staff in supervisory positions.
District Superintendent Richard Sniscak’s salary will be $181,870 and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Rod Troutman will receive $162,088 for the 2018-19, term.
Business Manager John Vignone will receive $161,187.
The Act 93 salaries include a 2.5-percent increase over the previous year.
Parkland’s starting salary for a teacher with a Bachelor’s degree and no prior classroom experience is $54,210.
In another matter, the board approved cafeteria prices for the new school year.
These include elementary lunch, $2.60; secondary lunch, $2.85; elementary breakfast, $1.40; secondary breakfast, $1.60; reduced price lunch 40 cents, and reduced price breakfast at 30 cents.
Regarding insurance coverage, the board approved Workers’ Compensation Insurance with an annual premium of $863,664; property, casualty and vehicle coverage at $538,416.
Excess liability insurance will be $46,004; school board legal liability is $31,987; boiler and machinery at $19,999; and cyber liability privacy protection at $16,333 for the year.
In other business, the board approved renewal of a five-year contract with Service Electric telephone for dial tone service at an annual cost of $18,863.
