Robert D. Jones Jr., 90, of Bethlehem Township, died July 17, 2018, at St. Luke’s University Hospital, Fountain Hill. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Robert D. and Annie (Welty) Jones Sr. He was the husband of the late Veleda (Green) Jones.

He was in the U.S. Marine Corps at the conclusion of World War II.

He joined the Bethlehem Steel Corporation at the age of 16 before being drafted. After his military service, he returned to work in the electrical repair shop for 46 years.

He was a former member of the MORA Club. He volunteered at Muhlenberg Hospital. He was a coin collector. He was involved with his late son in Special Olympics events, and travelled extensively to participate in and support them.

He is survived by a daughter, Lonnie and her husband Thomas Votral of Bethlehem; two sons, Robert D. III and his wife Cathy of Macungie and Brian of Hummeltown; five grandchildren, Todd, Beth Anne, Michael, Melissa and Meghan; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Wayne Jones; and three sisters Margaret Grube, Evelyn Bair, and Myrtle Jones.
