Catty CM tops Hawks

The Catasauqua Connie Mack baseball team used a complete team effort to defeat Bethlehem Catholic 10-0 on Tuesday, June 26.

The Rough Riders picked up the five-inning mercy rule victory behind a shutout from starting pitcher Jason Schneck. Schneck scattered three hits, one walk, and struck out six hitters.

Catasauqua took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Christian Fye scored on an infield error.

The Rough Riders scored seven runs in the third inning to break the game open. Catasauqua sent 11 hitters to the plate, which produced six singles and two walks.

Fye went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Andrew Torres went 2-for-2 with a walk, a run scored, and two RBI. Cole Schiffer went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Bethlehem Catholic led off the fourth inning with a triple, but Schneck stranded the runner and recorded six-straight outs to close the game.

Catasauqua hosts Moore Township on Friday, June 29 then travels to Pleasant Valley on Saturday, June 30.
