Blocker’s Coffeehouse, 309 Front St., Catasauqua, sponsored a Coffee for Paws event June 16. Owner Vicky Bartholomew has always kept a pet-friendly atmosphere since the coffeehouse opened.

“We invited some vendors and wanted to have a place where people know they can bring their pets,” she said.

In the “barking lot,” pet owners met other dog lovers.

The event was coordinated with Julia’s Four Seasons, an award-winning consignment shop operated by Melissa Jacobs. Jacobs offered beer, while Big Momma’s Doggie Delights and AfFORDable Pet Care provided dog treats. Audrea Nanney and Emily DeLong handled the treats.

“We have expert tasters, but the head taster is the Pekingese,” they said.

There were dogs of many breeds at the event. Carol and Haley Aversa had a couple of soft-coated Wheaten terriers. Abby Hall had a Chinese crested dog.

Everyone wants a rescue dog. Outcast Rescue, Catasauqua, specializes in pit bulls and Rottweilers, and Peaceable Kingdom animal shelter, Whitehall, had a Chihuahua mix. Harnessed to Hope Northern Breed Rescue, Bethlehem, also had rescue dogs for adoption.

Vy’s Treasure Chest, run by Victoria Young, was one of the vendors. She swears by the medicinal impact of Canna Bees, a mixture of honey and hemp.

“It’s a great pick me up when I have a fever,” she said.
