In the Connie Mack League, both Coplay (4-5-1) and the Balliet Vikes (5-5) sit in the middle of the 23-team league.
The Balliet Vikes defeated Palmerton 19-7 and dropped a contest to Moore Township 5-2. Results for Coplay’s contests were unavailable at press time.
The Balliet Vikes will host Lehigh-Bethlehem, and Coplay will travel to Becahi on Friday, June 22.
The Coplay Legion baseball team enjoyed an offensive explosion last week, lifting its record to 5-4 on the season.
The Maroon-and-Gray defeated Southern Lehigh 9-3 on Sunday, June 17 and Northern Valley 17-8 on Tuesday, June 19. Zachary Bilder tossed 99 pitches in the victory over Southern Lehigh.
Coplay Legion hosts first-place Salisbury on Thursday, June 21 and Emmaus on Sunday, June 24 at Sam Balliet Stadium.
In the Blue Mountain League, the Whitehall-based Orioles sit in second place with a record of 10-4. The Orioles are riding a three-game win streak after knocking off the Falcons, Northern Yankees, and Bandits last week.
Former Zephyr and current St. Joseph’s Hawk Jake Meyers is 2-1 on the season with an ERA of 1.33. 2017 home run champion Zach Delp is on pace to challenge for the crown once again. Delp has four home runs on the season and is hitting .350 with a slugging percentage of .875.
The Orioles travel to the first-place Giants on Saturday, June 23 then to the Dodgers on Sunday, June 24.
