Helen “Penny” Berezny Vargo, 98, of Bethlehem, died June 12, 2018. She was a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Antolik) Chando. She was the wife of the late Edward Berezny and the late Julius Vargo.

She was the co-owner of Washington Lunch and Bowling, Southside Bethlehem.

She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, where she made pierogi until she was 96 years old.

She is survived by a son, Edward and his wife Maureen of Bethlehem; a daughter, Maryanne and her husband Richard Smith of Virginia; three grandchildren, Kahli, Edward and Richard;a great-grandson, Paul; and two brothers, Emil and Edward Chando.

She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Mueller; and seven brothers, Joseph, John, Pete, Stephen, William, Andrew and George.
