As the school year comes to a close, students excitedly wait for the final day of school when summer vacation will officially begin. Reflecting on the previous year, it seems Salisbury students have been busy academically and active in many different extracurricular activities.

To start off the school year, the Salisbury High School football team won the Homecoming game against the Northern Lehigh Bulldogs. The softball team won second at the Colonial League game in the spring. The fourth annual Hello-Goodbye Soccer Tournament was a success and everyone who participated had a great time.

Thirty students were inducted into the SHS chapter of National Honor Society this spring. The debate team won the finals and took home the debate cup for another season.

After a couple of years without a team, the SHS Literary Club created a Reading Olympics team, which competed against other schools about their knowledge of books.

The Literary Club also went to Kutztown University to listen to author Sharon Flake talk about her experience writing books and read books to elementary school students.

The SHS theater presented both “Once Upon a Mattress” in the spring and “Almost Maine” in the fall.

No Place For Hate planned a Day Without Hate for students to participate in by spreading joy throughout the school.

The Environmental Club created the new courtyard walkway.

Student Government Advisory donated over 1,000 items to the Allentown Ecumenical Food Bank. They also had two blood drives this year to support the Miller Keystone Blood Center.

Key Club members held a holiday party for elementary school students and volunteered at the Special Olympics, among many other events.

Juniors and seniors and their guests danced the night away at prom May 19 at DeSales University.

The SHS literary magazine, Euphoria, published its first edition this spring. The magazine includes artistic works, including poems, short stories, photographs and drawings created by SHS students.

Overall, Salisbury students had an exciting, eventful and productive year.

Want to remember the 2017-2018 school year? Yearbooks are being sold until the end of the school year. They will be distributed in August.

To prepare for next year, clubs have begun to elect students into leadership positions.

Students are also receiving their summer homework.
