Richard A. Ackerknecht

Richard A. Acker- knecht, 65, of Allen Township, died May 23, 2018, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Annette S. (Coyle) Ackerknecht for 33 years.

Born in Quakertown, he was a son of the late Harry H. and Betty Jane (Bernhard) Ackerknecht.

He was a 1972 graduate of Freedom High School.

He was a truck driver for 42 years, before retiring in 2014 from Nazareth Pallet Company, where he worked for 20 years. Earlier, he worked for the former Triangle Lumber Company.

He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 384, Norristown.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Betsy and her husband Joshua Huber of Allentown, Christopher and his wife Virginia of Stillwater, N.Y., and Stacey Ward of Virginia; five grandchildren, Brooke, Cameron, Emma, Axl and Kayden; a brother, Chuck and his wife Debbie Ackerknecht of Arizona; a sister, Faye Gunkle of Catasauqua; parents-in-law, Ronald and Esther Coyle of Moore Township; a brother-in-law, Keith and his wife Tammy Coyle of Lehighton; a sister-in-law, Beverly and her husband Andrew Ondush of Catasauqua; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Diane Rehm.

There will be no call hours. Services will be private.
