Mary Hilbert

Mary “Becky” (Koehler) Hilbert, 94, formerly of Luther Crest and Allentown, died May 6, 2018, at Moravian Hall Square, Nazareth. She was the wife of the late Bertram “Bert” J. Hilbert for 53 years.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Franklin B. and Katherine M. (Singiser) Koehler.

She was a 1940 graduate of Allentown High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of William and Mary, Virginia, in 1944; a master’s degree in elementary counseling from Kutztown University; and an early childhood certificate from Temple University.

At college, she was a campus airplane spotter during World War II.

She taught nursery school at both the Wright and Swain schools, Allentown, and elementary grades for Allentown School District.

She was a member of Calvary Moravian Church, Allentown, and a former member of Presbyterian churches in both Hokendauqua and Allentown. She was an elder, choir member and Bible school teacher, member of Circle and participated and directed the prayer chain.

She was a life member of the Liberty Bell Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Y. and her husband Stephen D. Krisko of North Wales and Marco Island, Florida; a grandson, Gregory D. and his wife Mallory M. Krisko of Nashville, Tenn.; four great-grandchildren, Sadie, Olivia, Jack and Reese; and Bert’s daughter, Donna L. and her husband William Fritchey of Northampton and their daughter Andrea and her husband Joshua Carey of Binghamton, N.Y.

There will be a memorial service 11 a.m. June 9 at Calvary Moravian Church, 948 N. 21 St., Allentown, 18104.
