William Mondjack
William Joseph Mondjack, 72, of Whitehall, died May 21, 2018, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, after a six-month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the husband of Carol (Keppel) Mondjack for 50 years.
He was a son of the late Elizabeth and John Mondjack of Whitehall.
He was a 1964 graduate of Whitehall High School.
He was in the U.S. Army for three years and served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967.
He was employed by the United States Post Office, Whitehall, for 30 years. He was a professional wedding photographer for 30 years, and later on, a nature photographer, including cover photos and articles for various beekeeping magazines.
In his 30s, he started beekeeping, and then became a Master Beekeeper and started Mondjack Apiaries. He sold his honey products locally at markets and festivals.
He was a president of the Lehigh Valley Beekeepers for several terms and was the group’s newsletter editor for 26 years. He visited Panama to work with Africanized honeybees.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Adele Schwartz-Munsterman and her husband Michael Munsterman of Coplay and William F. II of Derry, Ireland; three grandchildren, Frank Zachary and Elizabeth Schwartz and Freya; two stepgrandchildren; a stepgreat-grandson; nieces; and nephews.
He was predeceased by his infant son, William J. Mondjack Jr.; his sister, Sylvia Mondjack; and his son-in-law and first husband to Adele, Frank S. Schwartz.
