Good showing at districts

In addition to their two first-place finishes, Whitehall had a number of excellent performances during the District XI 3A Track and Field Championships last week.

The boys 4x100 team also earned a medal, finishing fourth with a 43.63 mark. That group included Martin Labib, Kresstoph Whittick, Chad Hussett and Dez Boykin.

Boykin also competed in the long jump, finishing seventh with a 21-07.75 mark.

The girls 4x400 relay team took home fourth place as well at the D-11 Championships. That foursome crossed the line in 4:07.37. That group consisted of Lindsay Solderitch, Emily Wells, Kate Bonshak and Kassidy Cunningham.

Madelyn Mertz rounded out their medals at the district meet, taking home fourth in the 300 meter hurdles as she crossed the line in 48.75.

Lucas Souders continued his excellent postseason, finishing fifth in the javelin with a 166-04 toss, while Jacob Heffner finished ninth with a 155-02 mark.

Hussett also came in fifth for Whitehall, just finishing out of medal contention in the 100 with an 11.58 mark.

In the 4x800 relay race, the Whitehall girls foursome of Solderitch, Wells, Cunningham and Juanita Flores came in seventh with a time of 10:16.53.

The Whitehall girls finished in the eighth spot for the tourney with 32 points, while the boys were eighteenth with 15 points.

Next on tap is the PIAA 3A Track and Field Championships. Taking the trip to ‘Ship for Whitehall will be Amanda Crooks in the 100, and the girls 4x100 relay team of Crooks, Bonshak, Monica Manu and Rebecca Ganthier.

Logan Miller was ninth in the javelin with a 104-04 mark, while Izak Bright finished in the discus with a 121-06 toss.

Additionally, the girls 4x800 team finished their race in seventh place.
