Palisades expected to hire Gilbert as AD

Palisades School District’s administration is excited to recommend Mr. Brian Gilbert, high school teacher and former football coach at Palisades, as the new Athletic Director replacing Ms. Rebecca George, the school announced on Tuesday, May 22.

This recommendation will be made to the School Board of Directors at their next regular meeting on Wednesday, June 6, 2018. Ms. George has accepted a position as the new Athletic Director at East Penn School District and will be leaving at the end of the school year.

Gilbert served as the former head coach of the Palisades High School football team from 2001-09. As head coach, he led the Pirates to become District XI Champions AA in 2007 and 2008, with a run at the title again in 2009. From 2010, Mr. Gilbert was the head coach at Whitehall High School where he led that school’s team to win the Championship title in District XI 5A in 2016 and 2017.

One of Gilbert’s former student-athletes, Saquon Barkley, was drafted earlier this spring by the NFL New York Giants.

Gilbert is ready to take on this new position.

“Having been in the district since 2001,” Gilber said, “I know the commitment of the teachers, coaches, support staff and administration Palisades has in place. I look forward to my new role as Athletic Director and working closely with this outstanding team to help Palisades student-athletes remain highly competitive and successful.”

Mr. Gilbert will assume the role as the new Athletic Director, pending School Board approval, and will continue to teach a limited number of Video/Editing classes as a Business Teacher at the high school.
