Zachary J. Houlik, 22, of Greensboro, N.C., and formerly of Breinigsville, died May 4, 2018, as a result of an motor vehicle accident in Franklin County, Virginia.
Born in Seoul, South Korea, he was a son of Wendy J. (Hoppes) Houlik with Joseph Szakal of Whitehall and James M. with Jean (Yingling) Houlik of Mechanicsburg.
He was a 2013 graduate of Parkland High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Lees-McRae College and a master’s degree from Appalachian State University.
He was a purchasing planner for Gilbarco-Veeder-Root, Greensboro, N.C.
He was a member of the award-winning Young Medalists Elite Junior Cycling Team and competed at Valley Preferred Cycling Center, Trexlertown.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Chaz Houlik of Whitehall; grandmothers, Ejaye Hoppes and Mary Houlik; stepgrandparents, Charles and Erma Yingling; stepsisters, Tara Percinsky and daughter Vaeda and Katelyn, her husband Justin Massie and son Bowen; godparents Byron and Mitzi Lee; cousins, Kyle and Tanner; a godfather, John with Kathleen Houlik; and a cousin, Elisabeth Fretz.
There will be a celebration of life service 11 a.m., followed by a reception, May 12 at Randall’s on the Orchard, 2016 Applewood Drive, Orefield.
