Richard A. Meckes Sr., 78, of Gouldsboro, died Jan. 25, 2018, in Clermont, Fla. He was the husband of Jeanette (Torbey) Meckes for 57 years.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Allen F. and Josephine (Kohlhauser) Meckes.

He was a Whitehall High School graduate.

He was a six-year U.S. Navy veteran and was aboard the USS Saratoga.

He was a mechanic with Mack Trucks for 32 years until he retired.

He was a member of Egypt VFW Post 7293 and American Legion Post 0274 of Gouldsboro. He was a lifetime member of Petersville Rod & Gun Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Richard A. and his wife Leigh of Walnutport and Daniel J. of Northampton; two daughters, Annette Bult and her companion Randy Bair of New Tripoli and Karen L. and her wife Sue of Quakertown; a brother, Robert and his wife Constance of Cementon; a sister, Joanne and her husband Bernard Nederostek of Northampton; a stepsister, Ruthann Kichline of Northampton; and six grandchildren, Richard, Joshua, Justin, Kevin, Taryn and Morgan.

He was predeceased by a brother, Allen F. Jr.; and a sister, Dorothy Bechtel.

There will be a calling hour 10-11 a.m., followed by a memorial service 11 a.m., both May 11 at the funeral home, 327 Chestnut St., Coplay, 18037.
