Whitehall’s Saquon Barkley stole the show with the NFL Draft taking place last week, but he wasn’t the only local football player to hear his name called by NFL teams during the draft’s three-day event.

Barkley, the former Whitehall and Penn State running back, who was taken second overall by the New York Giants last Thursday, became the highest selection from the Lehigh Valley since Chuck Bednarik was taken first overall in the 1949 NFL Draft.

The former Zephyr led the charge on draft night, but Emmaus product Kyzir White joined the draft list when the Los Angeles Chargers took him in the fourth round with pick No. 119.

White is listed at 6-foot-2, 218 pounds as a hybrid linebacker/safety and was a team captain at West Virginia last season.

Kyzir’s brother Ka’Raun, a wide receiver at West Virginia last season, was signed by the Seattle Seahawks over the weekend as an undrafted free agent.

He caught 61 passes and 12 TDs for the Mountaineers a year ago.

They join their older brother Kevin, a wide receiver who was selected by the Chicago Bears with the seventh pick of the 2015 draft, as a rare trio of NFL brothers that will be looking to make it through NFL camps this summer.

Kevin has battled an injury-plagued NFL career to date, playing in five career games so far and amassing 21 catches for 193 yards.

Stroudsburg’s Sebastian Joseph, a defensive tackle from Rutgers, was taken with 195th pick in the sixth round by the Los Angeles Rams.

Northampton’s Nick Sharga, a Temple product, was signed by the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent. Sharga was a fullback and special teams ace for the Owls.

Sharga was a walk-on at Temple before earning a scholarship.

He led the country in special teams tackles his senior year.
