Freedom HS: Chiafulio nominated for Pa. TOY

Freedom HS teacher and Bethlehem resident Amber Chiafulio was named a finalist for the 2019 Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year Award. The 11 year biology teacher was nominated by FHS assistant principal Maureen Leeson. As a finalist, she will be required to submit a video showing both a classroom-teaching episode along with a lesson plan.

A Cedar Crest College graduate, she earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in secondary education. She has worked at Freedom High School as a biology teacher for all 11 years of her teaching career. She is enrolled at Lehigh University as an instructional technology major.

Freedom HS: SteelStacksd Showcase May 6

Come out an see some awesome student-generated scenes and, of course, our take on the hysterical long-form interactive comedic improvisation called “The Harold.” $5 per ticket. Be there or be square! It’s going to be great!!

BAVTS: Students Recognized

The SkillsUSA Council will host the first invitation only District 11 Signing Day event, sponsored by Workforce Board-Lehigh Valley, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. May 11 at the CareerLink Lehigh Valley building, 555 Union Blvd.

Participating schools include Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School, Career Institute of Technology, Lehigh Career and Technical Institute, Monroe Career and Technical Institute and the Upper Bucks County Technical School.

Nearly 100 graduating students heading directly into the workforce with a full-time job secured in their trade, graduates attending post-secondary institutions to pursue studies related to their trade and those going into the military will be recognized. BAVTS: Senior

ceremony May 15

The BAVTS graduating seniors recognition ceremony will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on May 15 at the Sands Bethlehem Event Center, 77 Sands Blvd. Pre-ticketed only event.
