LANTA partnership formed
Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authorityand Lehigh University have agreed to a partnership which permits students, faculty and staff to ride LANTA’s fixed-route system at no cost to the rider.
LANTA has programmed its fare box equipment to recognize all Lehigh identification cards to register the rider. The Authority and university have agreed on a reimbursement rate per trip taken.
The new fare process and structure are effective immediately.
LUAG names Crow as director
William B. Crow has been named the next director of the Lehigh University Art Galleries and a professor of practice in the department of art, architecture and design, as of August 1.
Currently working at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, he leads education programming at the main campus on Fifth Avenue and the Breuer and the Cloisters museums; pedagogical training for museum staff and docents; and conducts research and evaluation to assess learning outcomes.
He was a Fulbright Visiting Global Specialist for the U.S. Department of State in Lima, Peru, and in faculty and instructor roles at New York University, Johns Hopkins University, Columbia University and the New School for Social Research. In 2015, he received the University Excellence in Teaching Award from Johns Hopkins.
He earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Romance Languages and Studio Art from Wake Forest University, where he was a presidential scholar of Visual Art and earned Magna Cum Laude honors. . He earned master’s degrees in Fine Arts from Hunter College of the City University of New York and in Science in Leadership in Museum Education from the Bank Street College of Education in New York. and a doctorate n Cognitive Science from Columbia University.

PTK Chapter receives awards
Northampton Community College Bethlehem Campus’ Tau Gamma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society of two-year colleges, was recognized at the PTK Middle States Regional Convention for activities completed in 2017.
The local recipients and the award categories are Courtney Eger, associate professor, information services librarian, Distinguished Chapter Advisor; Miranda Baker, student life and leadership development administrator, Jennifer Del Quadro, associate professor of communications/theatre and
Courtney Eger, associate professor, information services librarian, Distinguished Chapter Advisor Team Award; and 5 Star Status Middle States Gold REACH Award: 16.4% membership acceptance; and Chapter Cheer Award: First Place.
Build your own guitar information
There will be a free public build your own guitar information session from 6 to 8 p.m. on May 2 at NCC- Fowler Family Southside Center, room 340, 511 E. Third St.
The NCC guitar-building program is a luthier certification program and is focused on beginners. Entreprenuer worshops May 7
NCC will offer “The Entrepreneur Mindset” workshop from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on May 7 at the FAB LAB, Fowler Family Southside Center, 511 E. Third St. for ages age 14 and over.
Participants in the workshop will learn how to take any idea, whether it be a service or product, and nurture the entrepreneurial qualities to succeed by identifying problems and solutions.
