Bradley busy in her senior track season
These days, Kenzie Bradley is a busy athlete.
Bradley, a senior, is making the most of the track season as she is involved in nearly every event. But, it is for a few good reasons.
Over the past few years, the multitalented Bradley has excelled at a number of events, being a primary scorer for the Roughies. Also, she will be a participant for the Bucknell University track program next spring.
So far, though, Bradley is enjoying the ride.
“Things are going pretty well,” she said about the season. “I am going to try a number of different events. This isn’t tiring at all. It is fun. I always have kept busy.”
During the past three seasons, Bradley has raised her stock and a member of the 4 x100 relay team, both events that have made her a repeat performer at districts and at states with the relay team.
Bradley also notched a leap of 5-2 in the high jump, one that easily should place her in districts, and also threw 95 feet in the javelin. She plans to throw the shot put and run the 200 and 800, her previous best in the 200 was 27.9.
Still, one of her prime focuses is being a member of the relay team. Holdover Tyra Brown and Bradley were joined by newcomers Maddie Emery and Amy Huber. The foursome recently lowered their time from 57 to 52 seconds.
“We’re getting better (In the 4x 100 relay), “ Bradley said. “But we will get there. I really am having a lot of fun throwing the javelin. I really want to learn how to do it the right way.
“The high jump also has been a lot of fun. I know I have to keep working hard at it, too.”
Head coach Kyle Rusnock also has been relishing watching Bradley.
“Kenzie Bradley is a phenomenal all-around athlete,” said Rusnock. “She is competing in many events to get ready for college. And she is good at everything.
“Her 5-2 high jump would be state qualifying height. She works very hard and enjoys challenging herself. (Bradley) is a great asset to the team and helps other to get better.”
Bradley truly appreciates the first-year coach as well.
“Coach Rusnock is very optimistic,” said Bradley. “He is just so happy about how we do. Everyone is getting better and we all want to part of this. It really is a lot of fun and we’re improving.”
Bradley wouldn’t want it any other way.
