Virginia R. Gardner, 98, of Whitehall, died April 15, 2018, at Whitehall Manor. She was the wife of Axel Gardner for 77 years.

Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of the late Russel and Fiana (Bowman) Heydt.

She was a seamstress for the former Scotty’s Fashions for 10 years before she retired in the 1970s.

She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Mickleys.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son-in-law, Frank L. Fisher and his companion Patricia Steinke of Orefield; a grandson, Christopher and his wife Jariya Fisher of Chiang Mai, Thailand; and four great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Ann Fisher.
