Robert P. Markwich, 88, of Center Valley, died April 17, 2018, in Lehigh Valley Hospice. He was the husband of Winifred (Shafer) Markwich for 66 years.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Bernard and Elizabeth (Blaker) Markwich.
He was a 1947 graduate of Allen High School.
He was a central control operator of a B-29 in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was honorably discharged with the rank of staff sergeant after four years.
He was an administrative manager for 18 of 20 years in the insurance business, 16 with Metropolitan and four with Prudential.
He owned Marky’s Office for 21 years until he retired.
He was a former Exalted Ruler and oversaw the Elks charity committee of the Elks Lodge 130, Allentown.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Patrice S. and her husband William Strohl of Cherryville; a son, Todd D. and his companion Joanne Hamlin of Green Castle; a sister, Gloria Perlis of Stroudsburg; a brother-in law, George Shafer; two granddaughters, Stephanie and her husband Charles Powell and Nadine Lilly and her companion Andy Rinehimer; a great-grandson, Hunter Frick; nieces; and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Markwich.
