Fred “Blackie” J. Hurban, 87, of Northampton, died April 13, 2018, at his home. He was the husband of Rose M. (Yurasits) Hurban for 65 years.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Matthew and Mary (Monceman) Hurban.
He was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
He worked for the former Tarkett Manufacturing, Hokendauqua, for 34 years until he retired in 1992.
He was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Northampton, where he was the custodian for 40 years and was a member of the senior choir for many years.
He was a Man of Malvern; a member of the First Ward Fire Company, Northampton; and a member of Northampton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4714.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Joan M. of Northampton, Jane M. and her husband Michael Hanichak of Chalfont and Mary H. and her husband Rey Millan of Northampton; three grandsons, Philip, Joshua and Nicholas; a great-grandson, Christian; a niece; and several nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Emil and John.
