The 23rd Annual Spring on the SouthSide Community Festival and Chili Cook-Off will be held on April 28 along Third and Fourth Streets and east and west of New Street and along the Greenway on Bethlehem’s Southside.
There will be Cops ‘n Kids program with free books and activities, and more children’s events, live music and art demonstrations and yarn bombing, beginning at 11 a.m. The chili cookoff (chili tastings passports may be bought on site and there is a discount with a canned good donation-or online at www.southsideartsdistrict.com) starts at noon. The Banko Beverage Beer Garden (21 and older- bring a Musikfest mug for a special mug refill) on Mechanic St. between Webster and Taylor streets is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Homebase Skate Shop’s Hot Pepper Eating Contest is from 3 to 4 p.m.
There will be an evening Come Together for “No Place for Hate” concert with Dave Fry, Pentley Holmes, Dina Hall, Alyssa Allen, John Huie and Duck a.k.a. Not For Coltrane, at 8 p.m. at Godfrey Daniels, 7 E. Fourth St. Visit www.godfreydaniels.org.
