Award recital April 29

Friends of Music of Bethlehem, providing support for young musicians since 1928, is hosting a free concert at Wesley Methodist Church, 2540 Center St, Bethlehem, on April 29, 3 pm.

Featured at the concert will be this year’s awardees of the Outstanding Young Artist Award: first place winner Micaela Azzati, flute, and second place Madeleine Baker, clarinet. Muxue “Snow” Du, piano, will be recognized as a Rising Star, presented by Friends of Music chair Lynnie Godfrey.

Azzati studies with Robin Kani and is a senior at Liberty HS. Baker studies with Dr. Deborah Andrus, and is a freshman at Moravian College.

A reception follows the recital and an opportunity to speak with the young artists.

Friends of Music is a non-profit education-supporting organization supporting youth in music. Most recently, Friends awarded grants to three elementary schools in Bethlehem to enrich their music education programs. Following the free concert, members of the public are invited to attend a reception to meet the musicians. For information about Friends, see www.friends-of-music.org.
