PREPARE YE THE WAY… for Bethlehem Catholic’s production of “Godspell.” The Becahi Theater Department, led by director Debbie Acampora, performed Stephen Schwartz’s musical “Godspell” on April 13, 14, 15, 20 and 21.

Becahi students tirelessly rehearsed to present the parables from the Gospel of Matthew in a 70s twist. Although Schwartz’s original production featured only 10 actors, the Becahi cast and crew included over 50 talented students.

The lead role of Jesus was played by senior Myles Blair, with supporting leads of Judas Iscariot played by senior Brycen Jasionowski and freshman Ryan Fonte as John the Baptist. Students were also involved in stage crew, sound, lights, costumes, and hair and makeup.

Featured songs included “Day By Day,” “Light of the World,” and “We Beseech Thee.”

Head stage manager, junior Mady Zegalia, says of the show: “’Godspell’ has brought everyone in this program so much closer together. People I never thought I would get close to are now some of my best friends.

“’Godspell’ was definitely one of my favorite shows that I’ve had the opportunity of working on at Bethlehem Catholic.”

Watch the Freddy Awards on WFMZ Channel 69 on Thursday, May 24th to see a feature of Becahi’s production of “Godspell.”
