Gary R. Townsend, 62, of Bethlehem, died March 28, 2018, at his residence.

Born in Salisbury, Md., he was a son of the late Russell Townsend and Margaret “Peggy” (Christopher) Townsend of Northampton.

He was a final technician for Mack Trucks for 32 years before retiring in 2006.

He was a former member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Bethlehem. He renovated houses and apartments.

He is survived by two sons, Gary Jr. of Greenacres, Fla., and Jeremy Ponstingl of Allentown; a daughter, Kelly Townsend of Catasauqua; a stepson, Ryan James of Charleston, S.C.; a stepdaughter, Ashley Lacerda of West Jefferson, N.C.; three sisters, Molly and her husband Richard Stahley of Saylorsburg, Melissa and her husband Gary Blair of New Castle, Ind., and Mary and her husband Stephen Arndt of Mertztown; two half brothers, Russell Townsend of Melbourne, Fla., and Tom Townsend and his wife Eva of Gotha, Fla.; four grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by a half sister, Marie Granski; and a brother, Glenn P. Townsend.
