Ruth D. Schmidt, 85, of Macungie, died April 3, 2018, while in the care of Compassus Hospice, Lehigh Center, Macungie. Born in Alburtis, she was a daughter of the late Fred W. and Viola A. (Reeder) Hoffman. She was the wife of the late Charles W. Schmidt II.

She was a sales clerk for Egypt Star Bakery for 20 years, until she retired in 1987.

She was a former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fullerton.

She was a former member of the Fullerton American Legion, where she was on the ladies auxiliary.

She is survived by a son, Charles W. III and his wife Kathy of Bethlehem Township; three daughters, Charlene L. and her husband David Kline of Macungie and Linda L. Schmidt of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a sister, Arlene Clause of Harrisburg; eight grandchildren, Michele, Lory, Lisa, Brandi, Ashley, David, Logan and Kyle; three great-grandchildren, Kayle, Kaden, and Jaxson; nieces; and nephews.

She was predeceased by a great-grandson, Austin.
