Hellertown egg hunt

Hellertown held its annual Easter egg hunt at Morris J. Dimmick Park March 31, with hundreds of kids and their families gathered on a bright and cool morning in anticipation of the big hunt.

The event was open to kids ages 1 through 12. There were five different areas set up for the hunt, based on age ranges. Prior to the hunt, the Easter Bunny made a grand entrance on one of Hellertown’s firetrucks.

Kids waited patiently to see and have their picture taken with the bunny. At approximately 10 a.m. a loud siren rang to signal the start of the hunt. Kids made a mad dash for candy and other items strewn across the fields.

Some of the items included plastic eggs filled with chocolates, marshmallow Peeps, colored pencils, Frisbees and gum. For kids who may have not gotten any eggs, the borough had extra eggs set aside at the pavilion. Based on all the smiles, the event was a big success.

Prior to the hunt, the Easter Bunny arrived by firetruck to an enthusiastic audience.
