Charles E. Bednar, 86, of Bethlehem, died April 1, 2018. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Cyril and Agnes (Lawrence) Bednar. He was the husband of the late Helen (Liberno) Bednar.
He was in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Before he retired, he worked for Reeb Millwork for 10 years, Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 20 years and the City of Bethlehem for 10 years.
He was a lifelong member of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, currently the Incarnation of Our Lord Parish.
He was a member of the Jefferson Democratic Club and of both the North End Wanderers and the Heights Athletic Associations.
He is survived by a son, Robert; a daughter, Nancy Horwath and her companion John Lemos; his companion of 22 years, Mary Stein; two granddaughters, Amy Horwath and her husband Benjamin Cheetham and Julie Horwath; a sister, Irene and her husband, Richard Houston; nieces; and nephews.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Kevin G. Horwath; a sister, Anna Mae Landsberger; and an infant brother, Robert.
