A Broadway musical swirls around a theater fan as he sits in his apartment at Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts with “The Drowsy Chaperone” at 7 p.m. April 11, 12, 13, 14 and 2 p.m. April 15, theater, Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts, 321 E. Third St., Bethlehem.

With music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison and book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar, “The Drowsy Chaperone” opened on Broadway in 2006, receiving 13 Tony nominations and receiving five Tony Awards.

The show-within-a-show is a parody of American musical comedy of the 1920s where the “Man in Chair” brings his favorite musical to life as he plays a recording of it.

Diane Wagner Dobrowolski directs the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts production, assisted by assistant director Bree Scott, choreographer Kelly Bickert, musical director Neil Chaban and technical director Peter Wrenn-Meleck.

“Cold Feets,” “Show Off,” “As We Stumble Along,” “Toledo Surprise,” and “I Do, I Do In The Sky” are among the featured songs.
