Kutztown

Beth Ann Alboucq of New Tripoli worked in the office of Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. Mike Stack as part of a 15-week internship sponsored by Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education.

Alboucq is a senior public administration major and paralegal studies minor at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.

She is one of eight students participating in The Harrisburg Internship Semester program, which provides students the opportunity to work in all areas of state government while earning a full semester’s worth of credits.

THIS invites students from each of the state system universities to participate.

Alboucq, the daughter of Larry and Janet Semmel, is a graduate of Northwestern Lehigh High School.

She and the other students participating in the program also will attend several academic seminars during their spring semester internship.

Each of the students will complete an individualized research project as part of the program’s requirements.

More than 600 students from the State System universities have participated in THIS since the program began in 1989, each gaining valuable insight into the workings of state government at the policy-making level.

Interns have worked with dozens of state agencies, as well as in the offices of the governor, the speaker of the House of Representatives and the attorney general.

N. Hampshire

Daniel Hertia of Fogelsville was named to the dean’s list for earning highest honors for the fall 2017 semester at the University of New Hampshire, Durham, N.H.

Hertia is majoring in biology.

Highest honors are awarded to students who earn a semester grade-point average of 3.85 or better out of a possible 4.0.

Widener UNIV.

The following undergraduate students achieved dean’s list status during the fall 2017 semester at Widener University, Chester.

Students must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher during the semester to qualify for this status.

Allentown: Monique Quach, sociology major and Caroline Stang, social work major;

Kutztown: Jennifer Rohrbach, English/creative writing major and Jonathan Deutsch, mechanical engineering major;

New Tripoli: Sara Hufnagle, hospitality management major;

Orefield: Parker Robb, of Orefield, accounting major; and

Schnecksville: Aaron Mastriani, accounting major.

DeSales

Andrew Sorensen, a 2016 Northwestern Lehigh graduate, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2017 semester at DeSales University, Center Valley.

He is the son of LeRoy and Louise Sorensen of New Tripoli.

Moravian

The following students were named to the dean’s honor list for the fall 2017 semester at Moravian College, Bethlehem.
