Doris M. Daumer
Doris M. Daumer, 94, of Whitehall and formerly of Northampton, died March 16, 2018, at Fellowship Community, Whitehall.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Robert H. and Helen E. (Kipp) Ackerman.
She was a 1941 graduate of Allentown High School and was the class statistician for 31 years. She studied nursing at the former Haff Hospital School of Nursing, Northampton, and in 1944, earned a practical nursing degree.
She was a licensed practical nurse at the former Allentown Osteopathic Hospital for 23 years until she retired in 1985.
She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Northampton.
She was an ambulance attendant with the American Legion Ambulance Corps, a nurse for the Northampton Fire Police and a special policewoman for the borough for many years.
She was a member and past president of the Northampton Historical Society and was a former secretary for several years. She was secretary for the Northampton Borough Diamond Jubilee.
She received the Northampton Exchange Club’s 1985 Golden Deeds Award and was a Chapel of the Four Chaplains inductee.
She is survived by a son, Robert E. and his wife Cheryl of Northampton; a daughter, Janis L. and her husband George Chabak of Birdsboro; three grandchildren, Russell and his wife Stephanie, David and his wife Marcia and Amy; three great-grandchildren, Damian, Scarlett and Elijah; nieces; and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Joyce M. Mourat.
