Our adult book-oriented bingo will be held 6:30 p.m. April 10 in the reference area to celebrate National Library Week. Come in and join the fun.

It’s great fun for patrons 18 years and older to brush up on your book titles and characters. You may win some cool prizes like mugs, water bottles, pens, candy or books.

We are excited about changing over to our new circulation and cataloging system called SPARK in April 2018.

We will not be adding new items to the system during the first two weeks of April because of the migration of the two systems. We will go live with SPARK April 18.

Patrons will be able to continue checking items in and out. If you would like a copy of your loan history from the current system, please ask at the front desk, and we will print it out for you. This will show the items you have checked out the past year.

We are excited to join the 10 other libraries in Lehigh and Carbon counties. Between April and October, the Catasauqua, Coplay, Dimmick, Emmaus, Lehighton, Lower Macungie, Palmerton, Parkland, Slatington, Southern Lehigh and Whitehall libraries will join together in a cooperative library system called the Lehigh Carbon Library Consortium (LCLC).

We will have a spring program with Kate Brandes called “Native Plants in the Home Garden” 6:30 p.m. April 24. The program is free and open to all.

She will talk about designing easy, beautiful home gardens that support your local ecology. Learn some basic flower garden design tips you can apply in your own yard. This talk will also feature the benefits of native plants in the home landscape.

Do you want an easy way to help someone in need? This year, the Lehigh Valley Business Group, lvbg.org, is running a sock drive with the goal of collecting and distributing 5,000 or more pairs of socks to people who need them.

The Whitehall library will be acting as one of the collection centers, and you can bring in clean, new socks of any size, style or color.
