Howard P. Newhard Jr., 84, of East Stroudsburg, died March 20, 2018, in his home. He was the husband of Dorothy S. (Morris) Newhard for one year and of the late Nancy (Martin) Newhard.
Born in Catasauqua, he was a son of the late Howard P. Sr. and the late Dorothy (Oswald) Newhard.
He was a 1951 graduate of Catasauqua High School and a 1959 graduate of Yale Culinary Institute of America.
He was an Airman First Class in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War for four years.
He was a former president of the Culinary Institute of America and of The Executive Chefs. He owned and operated King Arthur’s Room, Sciota, for 29 years.
He was a member of the 628 Masonic Lodge, the Tannersville Lions Club and the Pocono Dance & Social Club, Stroudsburg.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Douglas and Thomas, both of Catasauqua; five sisters, Dolores Herman of Allentown, Pat Palencar of Bath, Joan Herman of Northampton, Betty Knauss of Catasauqua and Karen Faust of Coplay; a stepson, Michael Carr of East Stroudsburg; and a granddaughter, Nancy June Davis of Saylorsburg.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Debra Davis; a son-in-law, Richard Davis; and a sister, Brenda Humanick.
Arrangements were made by Kresge Funeral Home Inc., Brodheadsville.
