As seven members of the Northwestern Recreation Commission and Northwestern Youth Athletic Association met for their annual walk around of the fields, they agreed there should not be much work needed.

A broken picnic table under the pavilion was the first damage noticed and this was considered intentional.

Two round tables by the playground equipment look new but Justin Smith of Lynn Township said they have been at the recreation fields four years without painting.

At the small practice fields across the creek, there was a discussion about leveling them off and possibly making a full-size field.

Even if left the size they are, the fields are rough and not a good surface for playing.

Going out toward the street, there was a big tree down and another about 12 feet away needs to be taken down.

The downed tree can only be used for firewood but the second one may be good for lumber.

Anyone interested in using the wood can take them but should contact the recreation commission.

The basketball courts with serious cracks have been fixed with the cracks nearly level.

Smith said it took four years and suggested they have someone go review it yearly and maybe it will eventually be completely leveled.

More sand is needed on the volleyball court. This is also becoming an annual problem as the sand pushes to the outside.

There are four-wheeler tracks on a baseball field.

As the walk continued around the fields, the areas where the walking trail is to go are pointed out.
