Robert Bechtold
Robert “Bob” Bechtold, 84, of Orlando, Fla., died March 8, 2018, at his home. He was the husband of Mary Ann (Solderich) Bechtold for 63 years.
Born in North Catasauqua, he was a son of the late John and Helen (Parker) Bechtold.
He was a 1952 Whitehall High School graduate.
He served for four years in the U.S. Navy on the Howard W. Gilmore AS-16 and the USS Saratoga CVA-60 and attended commissioning and decommissioning ceremonies.
He was a supervisor for AT&T for 29 years until he retired. He then worked for Disney as a cast member on the company’s golf courses for 10 years.
He was a volunteer at Dr. Phillips Hospital, Orlando, Fla., for 10 years. He was a life member of Fullerton Fire Company and Fullerton American Legion Post 367 and was a member of Porter Lodge 284.
In addition to his wife, he is survived two sons, John and his wife Linda of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Robert and his wife Rita of Eagle River, Ark.; two daughters, Mary Jo Bretzius of Coplay and Linda and her husband Jeff O’Donnell of Walnutport; two sons, Thomas and his wife Mary of Slatington and Gary and his wife Lisa of Whitehall; six brothers, John and the late Phyllis and Charles and his wife Barbara, all of Walnutport, James and his companion Paul of Aquashicola, William and his wife Sharon of Northampton, Richard and his companion Jeannie and Ronald and his wife Eileen, all of Whitehall; 10 grandchildren, Mandy, Jeffrey, Amy, Robbie, Bobby Jo, Jessi, Shayna, Chelsy, Mike and Joe; 13 great-grandchildren, Cora, Logan, Griffin, McKenzie, Mason, Alexa, Emily, Nautica, Arianna, Amelia, Nate, Eddie and Will; and one on the way.
He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Ann Warmkessel.
There will be a memorial service 10 a.m. May 5 at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, 1700 Airport Road, Allentown.
