Board deals with various issues at meeting
North Whitehall Township supervisors recently adopted a resolution supporting the effort underway against gerrymandering of election districts.
In other matters at their March meeting, Township Manager Jeff Bartlett complimented the public works department on its handling of the early March snow-storm.
A resident has requested the township take over a streetlight that was installed and paid for privately.
The owner is now deceased and the street light affects eight properties.
Resident Dan Nemeth asked if doing this might open a can of worms and others in the township would be making such a request. The only time streetlights are erected in the township are as a result of a subdivision.
Jim Morris stated the PPL is slowly replacing the older bulbs with the more efficient LED lighting.
At the request of the new supervisor, Dennis Klusarits, the Farm Preservation Committee was reinstated.
One member is needed to complete the committee.
The drainage problem at Woodlea Road and Shady Lane was again before the board.
Daniel Linchuk again appealed to supervisors to somehow help him with his predicament.
Randy Frey, owner of the Egyptian Sands Motel, 2423 Crest St., Coplay, asked the board if it would be possible to extend sewer service to his property, as he is having problems with his septic system.
Bartlett said that it would be necessary to ascertain if there is enough capacity for the proposal.
Jeff Johnson requested the board look at his minor subdivision.
Johnson was under the impression his plan would be on the agenda bas he was at the planning commission meeting and they reviewed the plan.
Supervisors allowed him to come forward and they reviewed the subdivision and made some comments.
